Job Description

This candidate will address prevention of chronic diseases by serving as a specialist and advisor for built environment interventions that enable physical activity and access to healthy food. Candidate will prepare administrative and technical documents to insert public health priorities into non-health sector plans. Candidate will lead teams to carry out health impact assessments. Candidate will provide consultation and encouragement for the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines relative to healthy food and physical activity especially within transportation, parks, economic, and urban planning entities. This position is fundamentally about cross-sector collaboration so candidate will be participating in community coalition meetings, joining multi-sector work groups, attending public meetings, and otherwise building relationships in order to maximize positive public health impact.

Job Requirements

Candidate must possess excellent technical, presentation and negotiation skills necessary to encourage environmental/systems/policy change related to public health. Qualified candidates should have a master’s degree in urban planning, engineering, landscape architecture, transportation planning, or a related field and one year of experience preferably to include community engagement OR a bachelor degree in urban planning, engineering, landscape architecture, transportation planning, or a related field and four years of experience preferably to include community engagement.
