Job Description

The Lead Poisoning Prevention Student Outreach Assistant position is a 2 year part time grant position funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Student Outreach Assistant will work with Outreach Coordinators to increase awareness of lead poisoning, the importance of testing and the effects of lead especially on learning. He/she will evaluate activities and lead poisoning prevention interventions. Candidates should be outgoing, must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must have successfully completed at least 2 years of college. Preference will be given to students with an area of study in environmental health, public health, health education or related areas. Bilingual skills and completed coursework in program management/evaluation are a plus. This is a driving position and requires a clean driving record and current Indiana operator’s license.

Job Requirements

Education/Licensure/Certifications/Experience:

  • Two years college coursework
  • Indiana issued valid and current driver’s license, good driving record, current automobile insurance and access to reliable personal transportation for work purposes on a daily basis.

       Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet.
  • Reliable and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Able to communicate easily with the public in outreach settings and perform public speaking.
